Northstage ODX

This amp stands on the shoulders of two legendary amp builders: Howard 'Alexander' Dumble and Ken Fischer. I love the vintage Marshall vibe of Ken's Trainwreck Express and the beautiful cleans with cascading overdrive of a Dumble ODS so I wanted to see if I could bring these qualities together.

The preamp stage sends the signal through the first triode of the ECC83, into the tone shaping section, then out via the second ECC83 triode. Next comes the overdrive section, with switching that routes the signal through either one or both of the second ECC83's gain stages. The signal then passes to the long-tailed pair ECC83 phase inverter, which splits it and sends it to the two EL34 power tubes to drive the output transformer. The result is a stunning amp with beautiful clean tones that transition seamlessly into full saturation when you engage the OD and turn up the volume.
